Both Logic and DP are great but based on what your interests are I think you should check out Nuendo by Steinberg. But if you have to decide for Logic or DP I will definitely go for Logic pro 6, it has better plug ins, a great sampler and the support of Apple computers. It is more expensive, thou...............

I would avoid the Steinberg products, I own the big 3 Mac DAWs. from my observations SX2 uses 40%-60% more cpu than DP4, or Logic6. SX shares te same audio engine with Nuendo.
Check out http://www.nuendo.com before you buy, but you will have to look hard to find a HAPPY Nuendo Mac-user. Ce message a été modifié par gdoubleyou - mar. 24 août 2004, 18:54. -------------------- G-Dub

what are you mixing and mastering?
i use dp for all of my mixing .. primarily because it has far superior surround support. and i feel its is better designed for post production work. i use both programs but i am far happier using digital performer for audiofile manipulation. if you are just recording mixing mastering .. get dp 4 on the other hand if you are interested in using virtual synths and samplers and mostly into electronic music get logic ... |

Please remember, Logic Pro 6 is $499 with a valid student ID through Apple!

I really don't like Digital Performer 4, it is a great piece of software, and I know it's capable of amazing stuff, but the interface and the work flow order just doesn't work for me at all.
I enjoyed CubaseSX2 because it was relatively simple, however there were a few quarky things I didn't like about it, but overall it was solid. Nuendo just seemed like $700-800 more for some advanced broadcasting and surround features, with Cubase SX2's engine. I've used Logic before, and was happy with it, at the time I didn't have a computer of my own to support it, but now I do. If Logic doesn't work out (haha yeah right) then I guess I'm left with Pro Tools LE, but I really dislike the idea of having to buy one of their interfaces to run their software. -------------------- G5, Dual 2.0GHz, 2GHz RAM, 250G HD

for mixing and mastering what i use is ProTools LE and the TRacks Mastering Suite. You can't go wrong with PT when it comes to mastering.
