i was wondering who has experience mastering and burning cdrs?
i've been using PTle w/ AMIII and am having trouble getting the cdrs i've burned to match the quality of the original files. so far i've tried various versions of toast and jam 2.5. jam is more concise but the end product sounds a bit sterile compaired to the original file though the AMIII. is itunes' burner any good? what software has better file conversion and writes most reliably. also, any suggestions for external cd-rws. i'm thinking of going firewire w/ibook. |

Hi usme. I use toast and have had many comments on how the burns sound better than the original. I also have itunes, but it don't recognize my burner. I do, however, like the conversions that itunes has to offer. I forget what brand my burner is (external).

I've used Jam flawlessly for the past couple years. They burn exact matches like it's supposed to! If your burned copies sound different, then something is not right. I'm not exactly sure how your's is set up.

I highly recommend getting the new Toast 5 that comes with Adaptec Jam 3 I think. Toast 5 is lot more stable than previous versions also allowing you to use computer while simultaneously burning a CD. I have no complaints with it so far and CD's sound fine to me.
