I was planning on getting a new iMac and was wondering if anybody knew of a way or trick to migrate Opcode's Vision/DSP program from one computer to another. I originally purchases it as a web download and used the challenge/response method to authorize it.
I have tried copying the program and its auhorization preferences but it still asks for authorization - presumably this is tied in to feature of the hardware itself. I should also mention that their documentation mentions that they give three chances on this challenge/response thing but I am not sure if the company is still alive or if this is still true. As I plan to stay with this program, but doing feel like buying another license, any help would be much appreciated. -------------------- Abbie

Contact opcode by mail (with proof of store and your new challenge), they will give you your new response in 1 or 2 days…
I had do and It was ok for me. -------------------- jlcasa |

note... when trying to move software from one system to another... a lot of software will require reinstallation due to the files it used to authorize the software. Even if you copy all contents of preferences with it... there still may be invisible files that the software uses for authorization that are left behind. And then again... even if you make these files visible and copy them as well... it may still not work due to a difference in file paths used on each system.
so abbie probably has the right idea in contacting opcode unless you feel like spending hours on the net looking for an illegal krack which could be a virus in disguise. -------------------- ----------------------------------------

I have taken both of your advice and properly installed the product on the new iMac and asked Opcode for the new response. Actually Opcode doesn`t exist any more so this was handled by Gibson. I also applied the authorization fix found in the 'USB Floppy Enabler' download to get around a problem where the program won't even launch in OS9.
Thanks for taking the time to respond... -------------------- Abbie
