I am going to be buying a Dual G5 in August and dunno which piece of Software to get DP 4.5 or Pro Tools Le?
I think this is pretty smart of Pro Tools actually. Some people can't stand the hardware and interfaces that Pro Tools has put out, but maybe now some people will enjoy the software with their M-Audio interfaces? But then again, are the M-Audio interfaces any good? I have an Audiophile2496 that I don't mind. Does what I need it to do. Any responses on this topic are welcome! BTW, if this has already been posted, and I am too stupid to realize that, then go ahead and nuke this thread. Thanks! EDIT: Here's the link BTW... http://www.sweetwater.com/click/is_040805/...ore/detail/PTMP Ce message a été modifié par Lotus17 - sam. 9 avril 2005, 18:45. -------------------- Power Mac G5 Dual 2.0Ghz Rev. Well it depends a lot of what stuff you want to do. Also, always remember digidesign, like Avid, makes software running with the best hardware dongle you can think of: it needs something from the company to launch.
Meanwhile, still no PT free for OS X… -------------------- Our Classifeds • Nos petites annonces • Terms Of Service / Conditions d'Utilisation • Forum Rules / Règles des Forums • MacMusic.Org & SETI@Home

I really don't know why so many people on this forum are using Digital Performer, while Logic Pro 7 is the lick, obviously.
PT is a great audio editing / post production software, but if you're making music, go for Logic Pro 7 or Express (IF you're not into Digidesign PRO hardware, that is.) Ce message a été modifié par coldharbour - sam. 9 avril 2005, 21:24. |

The only reason I am going to get Digital Performer is because that is the Sequencing software that Ball State currently runs...

coldharbour, not everyone wants to dive into the Environement thingy DP is easier to grasp and a serious software. You may get less bells and whitles in the MIDI side but it's more than feature packed to keep most users happy.
I'm not saying Logic is bad, it's just overcomplicated (to be certainly the most completed MIDI war machine out there) for most users. Once you drop the extensive MIDI part Logic is the only one to offer, it's a matter of interface/personnal preferences IMHO. -------------------- Our Classifeds • Nos petites annonces • Terms Of Service / Conditions d'Utilisation • Forum Rules / Règles des Forums • MacMusic.Org & SETI@Home

When it goes to advice on the subject of sequencing programs, I say go with whatever you are comfortable with.
When it comes to hardware, I stay as far away from M-Audio as possible... I guess it's a product I just don't get... get to work that is. -------------------- kaboombahchuck

I've had real problems with M-Audio products - I've had three different bits of kit over a long period of project studio recording and I've had to exchange every single one of them. Usually, the problem has been that the hardware has been rushed out, with insufficient attention to the software. I suppose the answer is to wait until a product's been out for about a year - by which time something new has hit the shelves.
Mind you, my eMagic a6|2m is also problematic and I may have to get another interface! I have Logic Express 6 and I have to say that the Environment Page is a nightmare - the learning curve is vertical! (I still haven't quite finalised my Autoload after 15 months.) The software instruments and effects are pretty good, but the manual sucks. I've seen Logic 7 demo'ed and it is definitely a pro app - not for this old bassist! The setup assistant in Logic 7 configures your default envionment, quite painless takes about the same amount of time to set up DP4.
