I am looking for the best software(s) out there for cleaning-up music files recorded off vinyl (records). I know of people in the industry that use a program called 'Dart-Pro,' but it's Windows only. I have used Roxio's Spin-Doctor and Bias's SoundSoap and neither does a satisfactory job. They cannot remove the 'clicks' and 'pops'. SoundSoap does not even mention any applicaton for cleaning-up vinyl.
Please help, I will look at any Mac program OSX or OS9.
Thanks'
Alfonso

I used Sonic Solutions systems in the past. it did a really wonderfull job, but I was really expensive, and a bit hard to master.

I think they now released a Protools compatible version of their restoration suite.

You don't state how much you are prepared to spend, but have you looked at Waves "Restoration bundle"? Cost quite a lot, for me anyway, but I've heard it's quite good. TC Works have also just released a restoration suite, but then you need their Power core hardware. In TC Works two-track editor, Spark XL, there is some restoration plugs included that someone was very pleased with, but then, everything is relative, and you might not agree. The allready mensioned, plus my suggestions, is about it, I think at the moment, on the Mac platform. I have myself searched far and wide for "high end" restoration software, but the market looks rather thin. Good luck, anyhow. I hadn't came acros Sonic Solutions, but as they are very expensive and hard to master, I pass.

Try RayGun from Arboretum. Downloadable demo available from
http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/RayGunOSX/
and quite cheap @ £75 / $99. I haven't tried it but all the reviews look pretty good and I intend getting it for the exact purpose you need it. really appreciate hearing from somebody who's tried to clean up vinyl transfers with it. best regards - Phil smile.gif

I'll second RayGun from Arboretum. The full bundle can be quite expencive, but generally speakin you won't be needing the whole sha bang. Like any cleaning program, it takes a bit of messing around with it to get the results you want. keep in mind for every thing you clean out of the recording, something else may be reduced also, search for the happy medium.
