Hello everyone!

I want to perform a live acts with laptop and a midi pad such as Korg Nano Pad. I want to release prepared samples like... back vocals, keyboards or guitars.

I'm looking for software which give me such options. I don't need a workstation with dozens of effects and stuff - just simple stand alone soft giving me options to impute a certain pad to certain sample.

I will be really greatfull for any help.

Cheers, Tom.

if i'm understanding you, you don't want to do live sampling, you just want to play back samples you've prepared ahead of time in your live show. is that right?

if that's so, i'd recommend a simple sample player, like Vsamp.
http://www.vsamp.com/

if in fact you want to capture live audio during your show, edit and process it back, you've got a bigger job, software-wise. Abelton Live, and the new versions of Reason and Record are set up to do this on the fly, while still playing merrily along.

good luck.

I use Ableton Live! It's terrific. Lots of benefits I didn't really appreciate until I began to use it, such as ability to record outputs but also record midi inputs so you can replay a set for real.

It works great on Mac; able to host AU & VST plugins; loads of its own plugins, instruments & FX. Excellent integration with MIDI control surfaces and other devices.

There may be cheaper options that have all you need, but I was amazed how much my creativity was enhanced when I had capabilities I didn't know I would need!

Good luck

Jeff

no problem. i don't use vsamp, but all samplers share certain basic concepts, as do pad controllers. in the sampler you "assign" (not "impute") samples in a "keymap" area. each sample is assigned to one or more midi keys. samples may be layered on keys for velocity switching. then, on your controller, each pad is able to send both a midi note and velocity. you've got to match the midi note from the controller to the midi note of the correct sample. takes some work, but you'll get the hang of it.

i use Kontakt, and it's pretty graphic, but i've got several other samplers, and they all work the same way.

in Ableton live, there's a plug in sampler, and additionally, whole clips may be externally triggered. it's a great program, but an expensive one, and wide technological step up from what you're asking about.

good luck.
