I just bought an old powermac 7500 and wonder which audiocard best to use with it.

Do the audiophile 2496 work on powermac 7500 or just on G3, G4?

If anyone have a suggestion for what audiocard to use with this machine i would be glad.

Best regards JT

Audiomedia cards will work for sure.

I can't tell for the RME (no time to dive into the RME site: great gear, confusing website)

I had an 8500 back in the day. I used a Digidesign Audiomedia III (pci) card with SoundDesigner II and ProTools 3/4/5. PT5 LE is good for having lots of plugs, 24 bit data, and up to 32 tracks.

RME HDSP 32/96 is a fantastic card, but if you can't afford a B/W G3, you won't spring for a $200 used card. No ProTools with the RME card.

good luck.

You should try for a fast scsi card too, that will enable lots of tracks and take a load off the mac cpu, it was a big boost in the 7500 era..an old adaptec or the like..

Korg 1212 i/o, very useful esp. if you can find the interfaces as well, I ran a multitrack project studio on that setup with Cubase laugh.gif

You could try for an older Pro Tools III systems if you can find one..you won't be able to run the latest ProTools software but with Logic 4.7? as your front end you'll have a great setup, the best in it's day. PTIII will be cheap today, very cheap. Also you'll find the 7500 runs out of breath very quickly due to relatively poor cpu performance by todays standards, This is where ProTools scores as it has it's own DSP for extra power.

Look out for a cpu upgrade cheap, you can get 100M G3 cards for that baby which will fly.
