Hi everybody:
I really don´t know if there are any answer to this topic, because of his repetition or his nature... I am tryng to survive the Up-Grade illness from LogicPro 6.4 to LogicPro 7.2, including Tiger 10.4.3 installation and change of interface....(from Digi 001 to a provisional M-Audio FW 410)... And of course, there is where my troubles begin....After seven intents I could reach Tiger 10.4.3...OK Then I started with Logic.....several more intents away and it was done....(no trouble-free...) But when try to install the famous FW 410....I downloaded the proper driver (1.6) and proceeded...Then as told in many forums and manual...Shut down, plug things in and then turn on the computer..... But no, my beloved G4 2x800 couldn´t see the FW410, then I tryed into the other FW port.....error...!! G4 can´t see it.... Logic can´t see it either and so doesn´t see my MOTU Express 128 midi interface.... So, here I am, trying to figure out how to go ahead without selling the house in order to buy a not-so-new G5 and/or look for a FW PCI card to replace what I thing are a couple of Dead FW Ports.... May be I´ll try to find a "day job" untill G6 came to the market...? Any Ideas....? I will appreciate very much.........Thanks for reading... Guillermo |

Well, well, well....Now I am in big troubles....!! I have to admit that there was help when I asked for it...But now I can´t even tell you all if "The Thing" is working because it is not...
After the freaky tricks about resetting those fried FW ports...and installing my new FW/USB ADS Dual Link PCI Card....Guess what... Nothing happened....and I mean nothing (almost nothing...) Now, when I start up the cpu, a grey apple and a time machine cycling below, is all I can see..... I guess I´ve finally arrived to the very end of my short knoledge about computers.... So bad it is, that I had to call a technicist and make him to come home tomorrow afternoon, to try to fix the "device".... I regret the moment I decided to buy the M-Audio because I guess it is the begining of "all my sorrows.... Thanks again for your time, patience and advice.... Tomorrow we will see...... I don´t think God could be handy, but I will light him a candle, just in case... I will keep you informed. |

You can try another motherboard and NVRAM reset.
Have you moved around the card to another slot? But it looks a lot now to what happened to my G5… Now there are times it's better to leave the technician have a look. I hope it's something "stupid" and not something $$$ -------------------- Our Classifeds • Nos petites annonces • Terms Of Service / Conditions d'Utilisation • Forum Rules / Règles des Forums • MacMusic.Org & SETI@Home

emgcarra, I feel you. Hurts. Hope you are up and running better, faster and creating great music very soon. If you can grab a cheap flight to Hamburg, Amptown can fix it. There is a Technician named: Arvid. He should be earning a much as a Doctor with his knowledge, instead he's a dutiful whizz kid drone... and loving it!
No, I don't work for them, just a very satisfied customer... Sure, I've had a few problems, we all do at one time or another, usually the problems were my fault because of my Noobness. "You mean I only had to 'Click' That?" Quick fixes each time... 2-3 Hours... Complete. Most time is spent loading and re-registering Software. I swear I don't work for em'. They pass the test best. Plus you can sit with the "Technician" or go shopping in their massive store, they have everythang! If your Computer is going to be gone for more than several days and will cost several hundred dollars, might as well come to Hamburg for a day? Airport, Amptown, Airport, Home, Power-Up and Rock. |
