Midi Editors, is unisyn any good? Options

Hello,

I am looking for a decent mdi editor with which to control my various modules and synths. Any recommendations?

I sequence with digital performer so i was leaning towards unisyn just for compatibility issues but from what I have read around the net, it is not a very good program. Has anyone had experience with this or any other editor?

Here's the deal about Unisyn. When it works it's great. When it doesn't work, even MOTU can't help you. I've been using it for years, mostly to program Roland equipment. I really didn't have much trouble with it until I installed an upgrade of DP3 and I no longer got instrument names in the tracks window. It is, however, a great program for digging deep into the synths that you would normally have to access with a couple of buttons and a tiny display.

Now the problem seems to be that there isn't an OSX version. That was supposed to appear in January but no one at MOTU seems to know when it's gonna be out. My feeling is that MOTU is seeing that there's going to be more and more software synth use and less and less hardware, so they're not going to put a lot of time and effort into maintaining Unisyn.

These editing/library programs are tough to do because every synth seems to have its own quirky platform. So to get them to work well with everything out there is practically impossible.
I'll probably get the upgrade of Unisyn if it comes along. It IS a good program if you put in some time learning it.
