I would like some expertise on what things I should think about while constructing a home studio that will have a main jam room, a sound proof booth, and a control room. Small scale with big dreams!

I'd grab a good reference book (I just recently loaned mine to a friend, so I can't provide the author, but the Title is "Designing and Building A Budget Recording Studio", anyone else know who wrote that one?). It is a great reference and one I have recommeneded (and loaned out) often. However, you can always check out other similar books on the subject such as How to Build a Small Budget Recording Studio from Scratch ... With 12 Tested Designs (Paperback). There are a load of links on the Amazon page from that link that can help as well.

Also, if you can, go to a local studio and visit with them. Make notes on size (standard recommended minimum is about 1500 sqft, but I have heard awesome results in slightly smaller rooms with proper acoustic treatments). Check out how they use baffles and passive structures to break up standing waves and eliminate excessive noise.

Airtight areas helps sound leakage so those doors need attention. Non parallel walls, ceiling and floor really helps. Freindly neighbours?
