Hello there everyone
I am new to MAC. Just bought a PowerBook G3 pismo. Upgraded it to OS 9.1 Have installed Logic Audio Platinum + Pro Tools Free. - Audio is fine - MIDI is horrible! I bought a Steinberg USB-2-MIDI interface and installed the supplied OMS 2.3.7 +driver. When I play my MIDI songs in both Logic and Pro Tools, they sound completely wrong. All the instruments are chosen correctly only the duration of the notes and the whole tempo sound a complete mess! It's like a joke. Its completely frantic and random, no system what's so ever. At times totally slow and then again totally fast. A big chaos. Both sequencers run correctly and stable, but what comes out of the MIDI interface... When I press STOP for example, it doesn't even stop playing! Only after a minute or so, although the sequencer itself doesn't do anything anymore. Even when I quit the program it doesn't stop. This means, that those MIDI commands must be delayed and kept back somwhere in the system or so. I have tried uninstalling and again installing everything; the sequencers +the OMS (even got the latest 2.3.8 version) +driver. The same! My depression is, I have no clue how I could improve this situation. It seems I have tried everything already. ÊIs it the Steinberg interface, Is it the OS 9.1 or the OMS? Don't wanna go back to PC. Any suggestions would be very appreciated guys! And especially if you know good and tried out solutions for PowerBook +MIDI. Many thanks Metodi |

hi there, :-)
my problem has been solved buy guy on another forum! It was all down to the amount set for the DISK CACHE!!!!!!!!!!!! In my case, it was set in the standard position of about 6111K and my MIDI worked very badly. I was told to try a much smaller amount of about 512K. BANG!, everything was fine after that! Who ever would have thought of that? Anyway, what did we learn today? Check your cache! cheers! Mets |

Don't worry - I had exactly the same problem after upgrading to System 9.1.
I have fixed it by downloading the latest version of OMS (2.3.8 from Opcode) and the latest drivers for my Midisport 2x2. Don't forget to get rid of the old drivers first. I tried the disk cache thing and it didn't help. Everything now works fine with the default value reset. -------------------- Kevin
