Hi everyone,
I have just bought my first Mac, a powerbook 1.67, and I would like to ask your opinion and / or instructions for setting up the OS in order to achieve an optimal performance for the work i´m planning to do, which is basically music creation and production. Having worked with XP for a few years, I realized that "tweaking" the OS does diminish the amount of stupid problems ocurring on basic and not-so-basic operations. Is "tweaking" useful for OS x and mac hardware? I will be working mainly with LIVE, Cubase, and possibly PT later on. Also VSTi´s such as Guitar Rig and Absynth. Apologies if this has been dealt with and commented on in other posts, just point me to those if possible. Thanks |

Actually, there isn't really anything you have to do. Just install your software, drivers and updates and you are good to go.

True! although some people get caught out by the system prefs/energy saver/options or advanced/cpu settings...
You can have the cpu run at reduced rate to conserve battery power when not plugged in, and the OS defaults to this on anew machine - Automatic. If you want full cpu all the time make sure both adapter and battery settings are - Highest. I hope that makes sense!!! Have fun. |
