		Hi everyone,
I need to start all over again. But this time, I want it to be the last time for a long time. Um...

You see due to reconfigs, system updates I have rejigged my setup so many times I never get settled into a workflow.

I have a Powerbook G4 1.5Ghz, 1.5G RAM, a Stanton Scratch amp for my soundcard, a Remote SL25 and about 25 Gigs of samples/ loops.

I've always used Ableton Live. i recently tried the demo of 7. My computer struggled even without playing anything so I've given that up and actually went back to Live 4! It starts in like 2 seconds and the CPU isn't strained at all. I like that.

What I want to do is have a basic setup. I'd like to know maybe a couple of good free, easy to understand VST synths and maybe a drum machine to use with my Remote SL25.

Any suggestions for loop/sample management? Most of them come from computer music magazine (which I can borrow from my local public library). I have about 3 gigs that I have organised myself.

 Any ideas/advice? All welcome!

		Hello,
I am currently working on my home studio. Let me list what I will be using.

 - Powerbook G4, 1.5GHz, 1.5G RAM
 - Remote SL25
 - M-Audio Trigger Finger
 - Hercules DJ controller MK1

 - Two Technics 1200
 - Gemini Preamp Mixer

 - Cambridge Soundworks Desktop Theater 2200 (yes, I know)

So, currently I am using the Hercules as my soundcard. I am baffled by all the sound input modules available.

Here's what I want to do:

 - Dj on the decks and be able to record into the Powerbook
 - Use Ableton Live
 - Use Traktor 3 to DJ and use the midi controllers to control. (I would like to use the decks to control Traktor sometime in the future, when the cost comes down!)
 - Use a Microphone to record vocals etc into Ableton Live.

So I think I need a soundcard that has inputs for microphone and to record from the decks.

I know I also need to upgrade my amlifier and speaker system.

 Any advice appreciated.

What do people normally use for the Trigger Finger? I will be using Ableton Live but is it best to have another percussion application to program loops in?

Please help. I bought my band new 1.5 GHz/ Superdrive/512 ram) os x 10.3.8 powerbook in Jan 2005. There were so many reasons I bought it. For so long I wanted a portable computer that worked, rather than my old windows brick.I think something must be wrong or the answer is more memory. I want to use Ableton Live but as soon as I start using VST then the computer really starts to struggle. The CPU meter gets up to 100%. I have found the cpu getting this high and staying like it in other apps too, non-music ones. Even now writing this, I only have Live (not actually playing anything), Stcikies and Mail open. The cpu is staying between 65% & 70% and the RAM used is 352MB. This can't be right. What am I doing wrong? I can only think it's beacuse I have installed so much software, (and taken it out), that I need to do a fresh install and see if it's still the same. Thanks all for your help in advance. PS I just switched to MAC 4 months ago!
