I was just given a Performa 6400 with OS8. Can I do any recording with this machine? What would be the best route for doing so? If it is possible. I have never even used a Mac untill a week ago when it arived. Thank you so much for any help.

It can be done but don't expect high performances from the system.

Maybe a veteran from the prehistoric days could help out? I'm not enough litterate on the audio systems before 8.6. sad.gif

I used to have an 8600/200, with Ultra-Wide SCSI card and drive.

I was able to get a solid 24 tracks with it. It would bog down with VST plugs though.
So at that time I used mostly outboard gear.

Also I had a buudy with a 6500, it could not use full length PCI cards, only the short ones.
