Hey everybody,
Curious, just picked up Digi 002 Rack and wondering if most people run thier synths, samplers, drummachines direct into the soundcard or do you run through the mixer. I have a Mackie 24, but honestly don't dig the sound on it (too muddy). The only thing I have running through it right now pre my digi 002 is the tr808 drum machine to get that analog distortion warmth. But curious as too what other people do? Thanks, Kevin Reynolds |

I would think the best way to go is to run everything straight in, and use the mixer for something else...., as long as you have enough in's, and if your recording software can handle it.

It's depend the quality of the mixer ?!?

I think my Mackie has a huge high freq rolloff, I seriously think all the EQ's on it are all attenuators, wished I had bought a Souncraft or Allen & Heath, but in the States Mackie is kinda the default mixer. Right now I have everything running direct into digi 002 and all my synths/samples sound amazing but the tr808 sounds so weak doing it that way...it really loses it's punch, any suggestions...

A DI box for your TR 808 seems to be the best solution... it exist many models for all the prices. You can find some models with tubes to abtain a warm and/or crunchy sound. Take your 808 in a shop with you and try it
