 What Did I Get In To, m-audio midi controller |

i have never used midi before. i bought an m-audio o2 midi controller thinking it was basically a keyboard. obviously i was wrong!! i have since learned that you have to program the sounds to it. but how in the heck do you do this!!! where do i get them from?? im using cubase sx3, and when i plug it in...no sound!!! when im just in windows...no sound!! the instructions included are vague at best and set up for someone who has probably used one before. can anyone help, please!! i have had it for 2 months now and have yet to ever use it!! thank you!!

Think of midi as a remote control. Your keyboard doesn't contain a sound generator, it can only tell other sound generators to play notes (keyboard) or change settings (knobs and buttons). If you connect to SX3 and make a new track with an SX3 synth*) you will hear sound. *) type F11 and choose a VST instrument in the rack. Then add a midi track in the Arrange window en assign it (midi out flip menu) to the VST instrument you just opened. Play some notes. I of course assume you have installed the drivers that came with your M-Audio keyboard and connected the keyboard through USB.  Hope this helps |
