New to the scene and wanting to get started.... Curious to know which app the lot of you might recommend for music composition.
I am fancy to the trance and progressive house circut, and would like a point in the right direction so I can make the proper purchase..

reason, project 5, cubase.. which would it be.

Help is greatly appreciated.

Cubase sx is what i use and is compatible with firewire.later

Those Evolution keyboards look interesting but I'm loathed to spend any amount of money until I've proved to myself I can stick with it, i.e. it's not another fad for me. If you know what I mean biggrin.gif. My question is this: Can I use Reason at all without a MIDI keyboard, for creating drum-loops and such like, or is it an absolute requirement? An idea of what I can't do without a keyboard would also be useful, the last time I dabbled in music was with sound/pro-tracker on the Amiga.

Thanks for you help so far Beenome.

Cheers,

I used to play without a keyboard, you definitely can, but you'll need to be a mouse expert in Reason, and of course your creation will be a lot less intuitive. you can go for the e-keys (its only 40£ or something) or try midikeys soft that transform your computer keyboard into a midi keyboard, but not the best though !
