Audio Pops In Cubase Sl, pops where audio clips merge Options

I am trying to join guitar lines I recorded in Cubase SL using cut and paste, and where they are joined there is pop. I am told this is called an audio pop and it is caused by a zero crossing at the beginning or end of an audio clip. I am also told the way to correct this problem is to use the fade in/out at the beginning/end of a clip respectively to remove the zero crossing. Also audio clips should not be touching. I have tried all of these with no success. I have even tried gluing so that the two audio clips are one and this does not work. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!
