Logic Express An Extension Of Garageband, Is Logic Express a natural extension of how GarageBand operates? Options

I've been using GarageBand for the past two years. Frankly, I love it. I've been creating and recording some good stuff with it, I think. But I'm ready to move up, especially so I can record 24-bit audio. Logic Express seems like the logical step for me. Are there similarities in the two programs. Or is Logic Express a quantum leap different?
