live in a small apt, and usually am forced to do my audio werk in headphones most of the time so as to not disturb my flatmates. But whenever restarting my Power Mac g4 dual 1Ghz, it blasts that uber loud startup orchestral hit,,, you know the one?
*Bup Baaaaaaa!!!!* How the hell do I safely disable just that hellishly LOUD racket from my macs internal sound card or whatever? I DO have an M-audio delta series as my main audio card for all my music production, but also occassionally use the Mac's stock card for certain apps as well, so I do not what to totally disable that card,, Just somehow tweek the firmware or whatever that's responsible for that startup blast that's waking the dead. any ideas on this one? |

Well thats one way to do it suppose, not bad thinking. Cheers
Still I'd like to know of a way to permenantly disable or even seriously attenuate the volume of the startup sound. Where does this startup sound originate from? Is it a mac hardware thing outside of the internal soundcard, somewhere on the board perhaps? Part of the internal soundcard itself? Can this sound be turned off, attenuated or even replaced? Any mac hackers here know the key? |
