I am new to mac.I am just buying a mac g4 powerbook,I will be using it for a sequencer.I hope I can use garage band as my sequencer by importing editing and playing the file thru it.The price of the power book is wiping me out so I cant buy any thing like logic Please if anyone knows if this will work or if you know of a free or cheap software sequencer let me know.

Try GarageBand for a while. It might do everything you need. I was surprised by its capability.
Tracktion is an alternative (www.rawmaterialsoftware.com). It's only $80, is really easy and fun to use, and has an impressive feature list. Unlike GarageBand, it can host VST instruments, among other things. (Although GarageBand can host AU instruments, and Tracktion can't -- at least, not in the current version. For something that can host both types of instruments, you're looking at more money, most notably the upcoming version 4 of Ableton Live.)
