Do you know if the new Firewire iPod 40 Gig would work as well as a 7200rpm external HD??
Apple says the iPod plays these files: AAC (16 to 320 Kbps), MP3 (32 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible, AIFF, Apple lossless and WAV ..and Apple is promoting the iPod as a HD to transport files. I would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks sounds2me |

i read somewhere that someone was using their ipod with a standalone editing console and that the machine kept on having errors.
When the manufacturer was questioned they were aghast at the idea as the ipod's is much too slow for digital audio work... I think it's fine for backing up files or moving them from a ->b and so on, but not as an external firewire drive to record to. |
