Anyone know how to create a cool robotic sound or voice or any cool robot fx on mac softsynths, softsamplers, or effects? I have Reason, so if you have any suggestions using the FX or other software on Reason, that would be great. Thanks! blink.gif

Hey Churls,

Use the BV512 Vocoder in Reason 2.5.
Always remember the following:
When making robot voices:
1. The speech/vocal track is the Modulator signal.
2. The synth is the Carrier signal.

- Reason doesn't support live audio input, so you will
have to use any other audio app to record the speech
or vocals and export them to aif or wav.

1.In Reason add a Mixer, Subtractor(any synth), and a NN19 (any sampler).
Assign your previously created aif speech/vocal file to the NN19
then map it to the sequencer for the proper duration so that it will playback completely.

2. Choose a Subtractor patch.
3. Add a BV512 Vocoder Unit.

4. Hit the Tab key to see the back of the rack and
drag the main output from the Subtractor to the
input for the carrier signal on the BV512 Vocoder.
Drag the NN19 output to the input for the modulator channel.

5. Play (hold) a chord through midi input using the Subtractor
and start the playback of the aif you mapped to the sequencer.

You are basically setup to start playing with the classic talking synth.
Change the synth patches to play with the sound.

These instructions aren't perfect,
so use the Reason Operations Manual for more detailed info.
