I'm thinking about getting a 1,6 G5 for my digi 002 system. My question then is very simple: Can a single processor G5 run the system properly - compared to, say, a dual G4? (I know that a dual G5 will do the job but then there's the money issue.)
Hope anyone can help? |

Hi Mikkel,
I don't run an 002 - I have to say I'm a tad jealous that you have one. ![]() But - I have run ProTools on my G4 733MHz single processor machine quite happily. It depends on what your demands are. If you want dozens and dozens of tracks with multiple plug-ins, you may find the G5 1.6 struggles at some point - but - if you are not that demanding - it'll be a great machine for you. I don't know if ProTools is multi-processor aware - maybe someone else can answer that - so please take that into account. Have fun PT |
