Hello,
I'm just getting started with Digital Performer on Mac OSX. I have noticed it's a bit buggy here and there. It has quit a few times out of the blue which is unusual now-a-days with the more sturdy OS, and it has trouble with my multiple monitor setup. For instance, pull down menu's for patch lists appear on one screen when I try to access them from another. I've read a lot about Logic. It appears to be the industry favorite and wonder if it's worth investing my money in or should I just stick with DP4... bugs and all. I also can't stand MOTU's slow development/product support - it has to be the worst in the industry. The one thing about Logic however is that it doesn't appear as elegant as DP4's interface. I wonder now that Apple owns the company if they will re-do the interface so it becomes more Mac like/friendly? eMedia. |

I say stick with Digital Performer.
MOTU has always created very elegant software, some of the most ergonomically-designed Mac apps I've ever worked with (and I've worked with many). As far as your comment: "I also can't stand MOTU's slow development/product support - it has to be the worst in the industry." MOTU is definitely NOT the worst in the industry. I've seen some of the worst and MOTI isn't even close to them in the way of customer support. They usually answer by email in a timely manner with helpful info. MOTU thinks of everything in the way of features for DP. If DP is having some growing pains (as all the Mac software manufacturers) associated with Mac OS X, I'm riding it out until things smooth out with OS X, because MOTU has never let me down... and I've been sequencing with Performer/Digital Performer since 1986. Good luck. -BobbyA |
