what is the best laptop I can buy thats cheap to run logic 4.6?

Mmm, I was going to say something similar. Yes, Logic 4.x was optimised to run on the G4, although I ran Logic 5 for quite a while on this here iBook G3 600MHz and it performed reasonably well. New iBooks go up to 900MHz, but then again they don't cost that much less than a new 12" PowerBook, although the iBook's screen would be bigger. Although, again, my iBook only has the 12" screen and it's never really bothered me.
You could probably find a second-hand G4 TiBook - anything up to 800Mhz - fairly cheap (relativey speaking). That would be the best buy, I think. It might be a little more than you planned on spending, but it will last you much longer in terms of raw performance. And you're bound to upgrade to Logic 5 or even 6 at some point - they really are much better than 4.x. |
