i have been reading a book on how to use logic audio. there is a section in the book describing a specific way to set up midi devices in the environment. it says to create a multi instrument and then create a port object and cable them together... the only problem is, i cant find where you create a port object. i pulled down the "new" menu expecting to find "port object" but it is not there. how do you create a port object?

i am using logic audio platinum version 5.5 for osx if that helps.

Sorry, I did not make myself clear. There is no port object anymore. If you want to create an environment like in your book do as I stated in the last paragraph of my previous post.

create a new "instrument" assign its "Cha" to "all" and its "Port" to desired USB out (Name this "instrument" with the port number if you want) and then cable your multi instrument to this object.

The "instrument" object created above functions the same as a port object.
