i have been reading a book on how to use logic audio. there is a section in the book describing a specific way to set up midi devices in the environment. it says to create a multi instrument and then create a port object and cable them together... the only problem is, i cant find where you create a port object. i pulled down the "new" menu expecting to find "port object" but it is not there. how do you create a port object?

i am using logic audio platinum version 5.5 for osx if that helps.

ok, but how do i create and actual port object? is there a menu function to do so? i own a dumb MIDI controller (no sounds built in) and a dr. groove drum machine. the drum machine is capable of playing bass sounds as well as drum sounds. i have my MIDI setup so that my controller goes into the IN 1 of the interface. the OUT 1 of the interface goes to the drum machine. and the MIDI OUT of the drum machine goes to the IN 2 of the interface. i want to recreate exactly that in the logic environment. that is what the book is trying to take me through in a step-by-step process. so i am really trying to follow it.
