i have been reading a book on how to use logic audio. there is a section in the book describing a specific way to set up midi devices in the environment. it says to create a multi instrument and then create a port object and cable them together... the only problem is, i cant find where you create a port object. i pulled down the "new" menu expecting to find "port object" but it is not there. how do you create a port object?
i am using logic audio platinum version 5.5 for osx if that helps. |

In most cases don't worry about creating a port object.
You can assign a port to a multi instrument in its instrument parameter box on left of environment. Port, Cha, Prg, Vol, pan etc.... you don't really need a port object if you are only creating simple environments. However, if you want you can create a new "instrument" assign its "Cha" to "all" and its "Port" to desired USB out and then cable your multi instrument to this object. Name this "instrument" with the port number if you want. This will have a similar effect to what the book is describing. |
