blink.gif Has anyone else had trouble using the audiophile 2496?
I found my cd rom to be something close to gobbledygook- - with the icons mentioned in the manual [in the first window] not being there etc.

I am particually having trouble configuring my keyboard into the system.
My cubase works as I can recieve tempo clicks, and have recorded midi, however.I cant for the life of me record live audio data to the sequencer.[from my keyboard]
Where am I going wrong?

Reference to the sound card manuals double dutch drives me insane.

Plaese help if poss.
Have you had similar problems?

I have an audiophile 2496 inside a 9600 running under OS 9.0.4 (never use any OS higher than this on a 9600, by the way...problem city!)

I use it for mixdown via the analog inputs from another system (XLR outs of an Apogee AD-8000.)

I use it with Logic 4.7.3 and TC Spark for the sole purpose of stereo mixdown/mastering. The internal clock seems to be quite unstable on the 2496 when using the digital SPDIF input. It records fine this way, but the monitoring on the analog outputs gets all crackly and nasty, so monitoring is a nightmare when recording digitally.

However, this problem evaporates when using the analog inputs and clocking the 2496 internally. Monitoring is absolutely fine using this protocol. If you are using it for SPDIF recording/simultaeneous analog monitoring, then I know there are problems. Some of these errors disappear when using the 2496 in a newer quicksilver G4 under OS 9.2.2. The delta control panel is not the cleverest looking piece of software I have set my eyes upon.

But for the purpose of recording stereo program material via analog input into my 9600, it's a perfect solution. The audio quality is excellent, and I can record at 24/96khz using Spark!

However, this is not to say that it wasn't a nightmare getting it to run smoothly. It's a fiddly interface, that delta console. Once you have it up and running happily, save the control panel settings and hope for the best next time you use it!!

My experiences with the 2496 don't extend to midi; sorry to not be of any help in this area. Just a great sounding stereo card! It has turned my 9600 into a sort of 1/2 inch Ampex machine that sits in the corner...minus the editing with blades and the hiss! (old skool mastering!)
