[B] Hey everyone, I'm kinda new to the world of music but I was wondering what would be the optimum system to purchase if I was going to do some recording and sampling. Im thinking a Mac g4 or something like it.
I got 2-3k to spend. Any ideas? Email: Hcadar@attbi.com |

well, some of depends on what software you want to use... for example, if you knew that the software you wanted to use supported dual processors... I would highly suggest a dual G4 tower mac with lots of RAM. If software doesn't support dual processors... then just get the fastest G4 tower you can afford.
Ideally dual processors are really nice but if your software doesn't support it (more and more software is becoming available for DP) then its not worth spending the extra money for the extra card. For home recording where portability is not needed... just go with a g4 tower of some type with at least 256mb of ram... imacs are neat but limited expandability due to no PCI slots so I would stay away from those (not that you can't make a imac a recording station). ![]() -------------------- ----------------------------------------
