What do you suggest for a cpu lite guitar plugin for writing purposes.
I'm using a 1.5ghz powerbook G4.

I believe Trilogy is good for bass, but most guitar ones I've heard sound like a keyboard.

If you have Logic Pro 7, that has Guitar Amp Pro. Or GarageBand has amp modelling. Or NI's guitar rig thing. Or there's the free version of Amplitube, Uno, from IK Multimedia.

None of them are particularly "lite", though. If you're talking about software guitar amp emulations, it can't really be done lite.
