Apple hired the development team for Acid, right before Sony bought the app.
The results of the hiring are the sountracks and Garage Band apps. The (free download) apple Loop editor will read Acid format and convert it to an Apple Loop. Apple Loops are actually an extension of the Acid technology than can also contain midi data. http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/soundtrackpro/
