Audiomidi In Tiger, S.O.S. Options

I'd really appreciate it if anyone could help - I'm trying to make the new AudioMIDI Setup do the same job as MIDI Patchbay which I used to use with Panther.
I'm trying to get a MIDI foot controller to talk to Sooperlooper. It is coming in through a MOTU 828MKII. MIDI is getting to the MOTU but not to the Sooperlooper. How do I need to configure the routings? I seem to have tried every combination. Anything else to consider?

OK, I went and looked at the 828-II Web page, and I'll make a couple of guesses based on my experience with other MOTU MIDI products:

1. The Firewire out on the 828 needs to be configured as a MIDI Thru somehow. I don't know if Clockworks talks to an 828 or not; you might want to download it and try.

2. I assume the Firewire itself is working. Does audio work?

3. It's some kind of driver issue. Download the MOTU Firewire driver version 1.2.5 if you haven't already.

4. If the 828 shows up in AMS, which it sounds like it does, and you draw the connection from the Behringer to the 828, that should be all that is required as far as getting the MIDI into the computer. However, you might need to do something to add the new MIDI inputs to your sequencer application. I don't know how that is done in Sooperlooper, but for example in Metro, I have to tell Metro to add that device to the device list, and how many channels it has. Also, I've had the problem before that when I did a driver upgrade, the existing icon in AMS lost its connection with the driver, and AMS created a new, duplicate one and I had to move all of my connections over to it. Scroll your AMS window way over to the right and see if a new duplicate icon has mysteriously appeared.

5. Download MIDI Monitor, which I'm pretty sure is in MacMusic's software area. See if the MIDI shows up there. (Everyone who does anything with external MIDI on a Mac should have a copy of MIDI Monitor. It's a terrific debugging tool.)
