Hey guys,

I just picked up an iMac to begin my conversion to the Mac Clan. I'm also want to start recording and sequencing songs. I have garageband, but since it's the basic version, all I can do is do piano sounds and record from my PODxt. Is it worth it to get the expansion packs so I can take advantage of garageband, or should I opt for Logic Express. I'm really new to this stuff, and really want to start learning how to compose and record on my Mac.

Thanks in advance

If you are really new to "this stuff" I would advise you to stick with GB, and go for expansion packs.
The only weakness with GB is it's midi editing, so if you are not so big with that, it will not be an issue.
BTW, It is fairly simple to edit the loops in GB (midi) to suit your needs.
You should be able to use any of instruments (midi). There is much more that just the piano available..
Always start with a new song and a new track, edited to suit your needs.
