Okay so I plug in a Firewire audio interface to my iMac, and now when I try to change the volume on the imac.. it doesn't change the volume on the interface (sound works fine, and it's been manually changed also to the interface in sys prefs.. anyone got any idea what'd cause this? It's a presonus firebox (not to get mixed up with the firepod).

Just to let you know that mac internal volume only work with the mac internal audio card it does not work with firewire interfaces
which i guess is because the master volume will be control by the software and on the hardware
i hope i help

Yep, normal behavior. Digidesign hardware works in exactly the same way.
