I have a stereo recording of an electronic composition I originally monitored through speakers. I would like to make an alternative version for headphones. I've noticed that sounds which are hard-panned left or right sound a little bit uncomfortable when listening through headphones. My idea is to shift both channels a little toward center so there will be a little of the left channel in the right ear and vice versa. First of all, is this the right approach? and if so, are there any guidelines for doing this, i.e. the amount of shifting needed, or does it depend on the particular sound involved? Thanks for any help.

Anthony

It is always about the ears so with headphones on adjust it to where you think it sounds good.
