Hi Folks,

A friend just turned me on to this site. I have been creating music on a PC for years now. Well, I finally get a chance to "get my feet wet" with a MAC, as a friend of mine will sell me his old G4 for a great price.
My situation:
It is a Mac G4 with dual 450mhz, 896mg of ram, 2 drives (40&50) and Panther.
I am currently using a PC with an Athlon 1.7ghz, 1024mg of ram, 2 drives, etc. etc.
I am running Cubase SX 2.0, Reason 2.5, QLSO silver, along with other little programs...

Will this Mac be an improvement....or about the same "speed" wise?
I'm really wanting to switch to a Mac, but do I spend the 500-600 bucks on this or just save my money, use the PC for a little longer and get a G5 later?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

speed wise it may be slower. Do you "need" it right now?

I'd wait until you have the money to spend on a G5. You'll be very glad you did.

Remember, he probably wants to sell you his g4 so he can get a brand spanking new g5 powermac...

i don't think you'd appreciate switching to that machine... ram and hds look good but you'd be dissapointed processor-wise.
