Which Portable Hard Drive?, enclosure, HD, trademarks, noise… Options

I'm using M-AUDIO FIREWIRE 410 on a Powerbook G4 1Gb, with 768 ram, os X 10.3.4, the question is: IS THERE ANY PROBLEM TO USE A HARD DISK VIA FIREWIRE AND THE AUDIO INTERFACE FW TOGHETHER????

I use the Firewire 410 and I recently got a Lacie Big drive. No matter what configuration I used (different bus, same bus, different order, Firewire 800, firewire 400, usb) the 410 would shut down totally whenever both were on at the same time. The 410 would not be recognized by the Mac and neither rebooting or toggling the power switch worked. I had to re-install the software for the 410 to come back on line.

I would be very interested to hear other people's experiences with this as I need to get a drive (or a hookup method) that will allow the 410 and an external drive to get along.

I have a LaCie d2 and FW410 attached to an eMac. No problems at all.

Perhaps you need to update your version of OSX?
