Can anyone tell me if Logic pro can be opened in protools Le 6.4 the same way reason can through rewire? Is there another way to do it?
thanks, mike |

No, currently both can only be configured as Masters. Also the digidesign hardware can only use one driver at a time, when using PTLE it uses DAE, Logic uses Core Audio drivers. -------------------- G-Dub

Thanks for the info. i've been trying to get a straight answer from evertone including digi. They told me that i might be able to sync them up through the AMS and IAC bus, but i have no idea how to do that. they are not even sure if it will work. When i bought the software from Guitar center the salesman told me they would work together seamlessly just like protools and reason... oh well.
thanks again |

I think they meant to say you can use Logic with your Digi interface, not neccessarily ReWire slave one into another. I suppose one could sync them with the IAC bus I don't see why one would need to. What exactly would you like to be able to do?

I would like to just use protools for recording audio and use logic for midi. It would be nice to have logic work as a slave to protools. i guess that's not an option right now though. Did logic ever work as a slave?
As for the salesman, i specifically asked him if logic would slave to protools. he said yes... thanks |

So I'm assuming you already have the Digi interface. Did you purchase Logic yet? If not why don't you give PT's sequencer a go at it.
I know, I hear a lot of comments, downing PT's sequencer (which at one time was quite true) As of 6.2 and up however PT's MIDI sequencer has matured considerably. I am a long time Cubase user and I'm hard pressed to find anything important that PT's sequencer can't do. It has all the quantization features, groove templates, ect. IMHO, a grid is a grid. Unless you're like Danny Elfman or something, PT's sequencer is adequate for most peoples purposes. Don't get me wrong, Logic is an awsome app, (I wouldn't want to incite any flames from the Logic camp.) but if you already own PT or plan on buying it, Logic may be a bit more than you need. Just a thought, TD -------------------- |

i've had protools now for about four years and don't have a huge problem using it for midi. I do a lot of writing on the road, away from digi, so i used to use reason but got tired of transfering midi files back into protools(i've never been happy with the quality of reason sounds) anyway, i really like logic and i'll probably just work towards using just logic. Just wondering, didn't logic work as a rewire slave in the past?
thanks for your help |

PT's Midi features are weak, no notation editor, or other ways to manipulate midi data like hyper-edit in Logic.
I attempted to write a tune in PT got to frustrated, used a keyboards sequencer instead. Word is that the ex-Opcode founder has been hired to put some meat into PT's midi feature set. Don't really see any advantage to having Logic and PT together, but you could probably use wormhole or jack tools to pass audio between apps. -------------------- G-Dub
