Hello everyone, my first post on the new forums - glad to be here! I've been using DP4 as an audio only program an a G4800 in my music room for some time now, so I've never had to try to set up MIDI on OSX until now. I just installed the program in my upstairs office, and can't seem to get the MIDI hooked up properly. I'm trying to hook a keyboard controller up to the input of a MOTU Fastlane, then out to a Kurzweil PC2R. In the "Audio MIDI Setup" window, I made these connections, and the "input" arrow of the fastlane icon lights up when I test it. However, nothing registers on the "MIDI Monitor" in DP4.

Any suggestions of what to do next would be greatly appreciated.

Chris,

Did you run the little Midi Auto Detect thing in DP4?

It should be under the Setup menu...

That should detect your exact synth.

You have to setup a midi track with the proper outputs to the Kurzweil.

Hi,

Since we're on the subject. HELP! I am a child when it comes to this stuff but when I go into Audio Midi Setup my Titanium Powerbook 667 G4 with Panther and Dp4.12 does not recognize my Triton Rack or my Roland 5080. When I try to set up a new device I only see Mark Of The Unicorn as a manufacturer. wink.gif

Might be useful to note that I have a MOTU microlite which showed up with no problem and an Oxygen 8 that the manufacturer (M-Audio) and Product (Keystation Series) showed up with a name of [1x1] but is RECOGNIZED at least. blink.gif

I thought it was my connections., but I have Midi out of the Oxygen 8 into in #1 of the Microlite.
Both the Triton and Roland 5080 are midi out of the Microlite #1 and #2 respectively and into each module.

I'm also runnin' the Motu 828 if that makes any difference. It seems to have no problem.

Help.

What am I doing wrong? huh.gif

The Audio Midi doesn't see the Triton or the 5080. What can I do?

The first thing to do is to make sure the units are in your midi set up right in the Apple midi set up program. If the auto hook up dose not work you may connect them manualy by dragging the vertual wires. I have 8 synthersisers so my problem was making sure all the units were pluged into the right ports in my hub, this is importent. Also set the receve and transmit channels correctly, if needed. Then you need to make sure the synthersisers are programed to work with your set up.
Some times I get no midi at all or one of my synthersisers will not receve or transmit. There are a number of things I have to do to get them to work when this happens. Starting with clicking "rescan midi set up" all the way to restarting the computer or the offending unit. This happens expeccialy after sleep. The computer not me ,I don't get much myself.
Good luck keep digging.

I have experienced a similar recognition problem since switching to a G5 and PAnther after no problems with DP3 and a G4. Everytime I open a new file I have to run the MIDI test in order for the connections to be made. Only then will one control light up in the MIDI monitor. The other controller never lights up but works properly anyway. The auto setup is useless because it insists on interpreting my S80 with one connection as 14 MU-80's ! MOTU support only says "be sure you have the latest MidiExpress update" (Which I do)
