My iBook is a 600mHz model #A1005.
Recently, the sound became fuzzy and distorted, even at low volumes. This happens on the internal speakers, headphones, and line-out. It seems to me like the sound chip has something wrong with it. Is it easy/difficult/cheap/expensive/possible to replace this? Anyone heard of this happening before? I didn't do anything out of the ordinary so I'm kinda angry with this sudden problem. Voll |

is this happening only with a certain music app or does this happen with everything that produces sound like itunes and quicktime as well? it could be a sound driver issue or could be the sound manager. I would consider backing up important data and reinstalling system software before I had ibook tore apart for hardware inspection as it may just be software problem.
