I recently got an iMac and the MOTU 828. I can't seem to get any sound from the interface. All I'm trying to do at this point is listen to a CD through it!! I followed the instructions in the manual, chaged the sound manager configurations etc. All is get is a clicking sound through the phones socket on the interface. The clock rate lights are flashing like crazy too. Anyone else been through this? I know it's something really simple.
Thanks in advance. |

If the lights are flashing, there is no clock selected & there will be no sound in or out. What device(s) do you have plugged into the 828? Did you install all the software that came with it? Try this : trash the sound preferences on your iMac & re-start. Turn the 828 on, then plug it into the firewire port on the iMac. Open the 828 control panel & set it to 44.1 khz internal clock - if you get a steady light on the 828, enable the sound manager drivers & set your input & output . Next open the sound control panel & select the MOTU828 for your sound output, then set the volume level. If you DIDN'T get a steady clock light, unplug the firewire cable, turn the 828 off then back on & try again. Make sure you have the latest version of the Apple firewire drivers (2.8.2) and the MOTU drivers (1.02).
