I am using OMS 2.3.8 with a Midisport 2x2 1.1.2 on a G4/400 running OS 9.0.4. I have an Ensoniq ESQ-1 connected to the Midisport.

OMS sees everything when I create a new studio setup, and the Midisport 'IN' indicator lights up if I press a key on the ESQ1, AND the 'OUT' indicator lights up if I click on the keyboard in OMS setup- but my system does not actually receive any MIDI data. When I enter 'Test Studio' mode- the system doesn't say 'MIDI received'.

Any suggestions?
thanks.

Here are some common things to check:

- Make all your tests using a clean macOS, or at least with an extension manager set to the 'Macos OS 9.04 Base' setup, adding just the OMS extention, and the USB interface driver. Avoid all the other, even suspect your printer usb extention ;-)

- Make all you tests also disconnecting any foreign USB gear (devices, hubs, etc...), except the apple keyboard and mouse.

- Do you have the USB OMS driver installed?

- Do you have the USB interface driver installed? (try to get the latest, if not)

- Is your USB(?) interface well recognized in the Apple System profiler?

- Verify your USB, and MIDI cables wink.gif

If all theses points are OK , and if you properly setup the OMS configuration, this Should works. cool.gif

If not, tell us more about your configuration.

i have a couple of midi apps that require me to setup the ports each time I run the app... sometimes port configurations get set to default... make sure to check in and out ports on the software you are trying to use and set them to correspond to the ports you are using. Also check to make sure you are set to recieve the right midi channels.

I have almost an identical setup. I had the same problem. When I visited the MidSport web site they had added a small note: 'We do not recommend the use of this product with a USB hub.' Plugged it direct : problem gone.

Your midisport cd should contain oms2.3.7. Uninstall 2.3.8 and install 2.3.7
Had same problem on Cube.Nothing worked except the above. 2.3.8 seems to make os9.x very unstable.

I never had a problem with OMS 2.38 & MacOS9.04.... But i don't use USB, only serial!

prutulz,
startup and shutdown routines were erratic. neither conflict catcher or tech tools pro could find problem. clean install diddn't help either. changing load order of midisport made it worse. Since I was on deadline I took the oms tech's advice and switched to 2.3.7. Problem gone. I just upgraded to a G4 and am about to install 2.3.8 for pro tools, which is required. hope bugs gone.
