I've got one of the newer G4's with the CD-RW that came standard.

For the first time I tried to import audio from an analog source.

The Audio input (that has apple's cute little 'mic' icon) is not (apparently) your typical 1/8' (headphone sized) jack.

Any ideas? Am I crazy? Did apple mac a 'new' type of input? Is there an adapter I can purchase somewhere?

I'm still a guest - feel free to email me at folktrash@yahoo.com

Any help/advice/therapy would be much appreciated.

Later,

There's no input on there at all. There's a miniplug audio out and a digital audio out that's only good for Apple digital speakers, apparently.

You'll have to buy a PC card or get some kind of usb or better yet a firewire device.

I bought a Digi 001 system for my G3 that uses a PCI card and breakout box for tons of audio inputs. This system is the best audio recording setup that can be had for a mac for under $900 and it comes with ProTools which it is designed to work with. I highly recommend this system for audio recording if you are serious about making music on the mac but don't want to invest $5000 on full blown PT system.

If $900 is out of your price range... I would suggest getting one of the few PCI audio cards that offer less inputs and outputs than the Digi for around $200.

This is my opinion when it comes to recording audio on the mac.
