Is this called dubbing? How's it done and why have I heard that Digital Performer and MOTU are necessary to do it with ? Isn't it possible with other sequencers/interfaces? Thanks in adv J

"Burning Music On Film" is a little ambigious, but the process is this...
Music is mixed and delivered usually on DA88 these days to a mix stage who combines it with the sfx and dialogue and this process is sometimes called dubbing (why I'm not sure since it's confusing to people who often call ADR (additional dialogue recording) "dubbing" or "dubbing" to really mean "re-voicing" etc.)... but anyhow, it is mixed.)
Then that mix (which used to always go to MAG film - in order to match the film - but now I think can be delivered several ways is OPTICALLY PRINTED onto a celluloid strip and that is combined into the release prints by the lab.
cinesound in los angeles does this, you might find more information on their website if they have one.
