How Do I Separate Midi Tracks? Options

Hi,

I am just getting into MIDI music. What I've got at the moment is some purchased midi files that we use at church.
I've also got demos of Reason and Ableton Live. If if import the midi file into Reason the separate tracks appear in the sequencer section and I can assign them to different instruments.

However, if I do the same thing in Live it doesn't separate the different midi tracks so I just get a mush of everything that's going on.
Do I need to separate the files into a different file for each track and then import into Live? If so, how can I do this?
Or am I doing something wrong in Live?
