Someone please help I'm completely lost. So I have scanned the reference manual for Logic 7, also purchased Logic Pro 7 Power by Orren Merton, and have been trying to get things set up for the past two days with absolutely no success. I have no clue what I'm doing wrong, because this set up has worked with my past DAW's. I'm using PowerBook G4 laptop, a Roland F-100 digital piano linked through a M-Audio FireWire Solo Mixer for audio. I'm also running Midi from the Roland through an M-Audio Uno USB Midi (an IN and OUT port to the Midi which then turns into a single wire into a USB) to my comp. Whenever I record in Midi it plays back through the Roland, and also I can record audio, but no sound when I playback. I'm worried that after going through the Logic Setup when setting up the Midi it only gave me the same option for both Input and Ouput. Somone please help I'm on the verge of tears hear. Thanx

Connect your hardware, open the adio /midi setup utility, to see if your midi and audio hardware is present.

Then open up Logic, start the setup manager, allow it to detect your hardware and create your intial enviornment.
should be good to go.

Also make sure you have an output selected on the chanell strip, make sure that output is controled by your master fader.

To reveall all available tracks and busses, engage the global button on the track mixer, hold down shift, and sellct the type of track you desire, double click on a channel in the track mixer and it will appear in the arrange window.

Hope that helps.

hmmm...well the only thing that shows up in my audio/midi manager is the Uno and an AIC Driver. I just reinstalled the most recent drivers for both the UNO and the Firewire and still nothing....I'm stumped

If it doesn't show up under audio devices, check the sytem profiler under the BLUE apple. hit the more info button, if the firewire device doesn't show up. Then you have a hardware problem.

If you have another firewire device check to see if it shows up. (hard drive, burner, DV cam) If another device is detected you firewire ports are good.

Also check/swap firewire cables.
