Hi folks
I'm new to Logic, using it on an imac G5 with Presonus Firebox. Just wondering why it is that every time I open a Garageband project with Logic a new folder is created with a new Logic File of the same song (i.e. I now have a folder with a song X (Garageband) and X1, X2, X3, etc as Logic Files. On top of this, one such song seems to have a problem with the sync between a real instrument and the software instruments in that my acoustic guitar part plays ahead of the other tracks when I open one of these Logic files. This problem doesn't seem to affect the original Garageband file. I thought I could fix the problem by switching off Auto Backup in Global Preferences but that doesn't seem to work. Thanks for any help. Ken |

That is normal, everytime you open a GB song in Logic it will create a Logic session folder that will contain all audio, effects settings, and automation.
They should sync up, if not you can use your ears and eyes to manually shift the track on the time line. -------------------- G-Dub

Thanks
After spending a bit more time, I realize that the software instruments are fine, but both the vocal and the guitar (real instrument tracks) are out of whack with the software tracks. And the problem unfortunately is not simply alignment - all tracks start off together as they should but then by measure 2 or 3 the vocal and guitar tracks start to go off on ther own as though they are playing at a slightly different speed. It's been happening with my logic tracks and when i go back to garagebend to play the same track, sometimes it happens there as well but goes away if I restart the program (or sometimes I need to restart the computer) - however restarting doesn't reverse the problem with logic. And secondly, if it is normal for a new logic file to be created each time i play a project, it also seems a little pointless and makes my folder rather cluttered. i would still prefer to keep a session only if i've made changes. Is this just how it has to be? Thanks again Ken |

Check the properties of the audio files, it sounds like you have a sample rate mismatch. Also check the session sample rate in Logic.
