I want to get Logic Pro 7, but am a bit squeezed for cash, so I can't purchase a dual G5 Powermac or anything that fancy. I do have a Powerbook G4 with 512 Mb RAM, and intend to use a Protools Digi 002 Rack as an interface. What performance drawbacks can I expect with this setup?

Hi Epidermus!

I also use Logic Pro 7 on my Powerbook G4. You'll need to upgrade your RAM to at least 1.5G, and preferably 2G. The only time I have problems is when I fire up my Kontact Player to use the NI orchestra. The rest of the time, it's pretty smooth sailing. Although, I must say that I've never run more than 25 tracks at once. You'll also want an external HD so you don't fill up your Powerbook with all your files. Hope this helps!

Same here, dude. I use LP7 on a 1Ghz PB with 1Gb of RAM and a Lacie D2 external FW drive with a Novation Remote25. It runs smooth as silk. If I lay down too many tracks, I just freeze some. Max out your RAM and get a second drive and you should be able to do most anything you need. I do not know how many tracks you will be able to record at one time with the Digi002 but 4 does not seem out of the realm of possibilty.
